Medicare Update
The Annual Open Enrollment period in which people with Medicare may compare and enroll in Medicare Part D plays has changed for 2011. The Annual Open Enrollment period will begin October 15th and continue until December 7th. Click news title for details.

Lehigh County Senior Center at 1633 Elm St., Allentown runs a UW program AND they are designated as a local “Cooling Center”. They will be open TO ALL Lehigh and Northampton County residents, regardless of whether or not they are members of the center. Click "News Title" for more information.

The Seattle Community Schools Learning Lab will explore the reciprocal relationship between practice and policy in the community schools movement. Participants will learn how to plan, organize, and implement their community schools strategy back home. They will explore the development of policies at the state, city, district and school levels to support and sustain community schools work. Local practitioners will develop skills to inform and influence policies that support site-based and systems-level practice.

Capital Blue Cross has excess equipment they can no longer use and are willing to donate it to a local non-profit. All parties are responsible for pick-up and transport of the items. For inquiries please contact Leo Wagner at 610-820-2734.

Nationwide employee giving increased 13% from 2009. Nationwide Insurance corporate giving is %100 match! Thanks to all the local nationwide donors and to Nationwide Insurance Corporate Headquarters.

Victory House employee giving is up 28% and they added three new donors. Their participation is at 62%, the highest over the last five years! Congratulations to Pat Diluzio and Victory House employees.

Five stores at 100% participation!  89% over all participation for a company of over 400 employees. WOW!
With combined employee contributions Brown Daub has gone above and beyond to become a member of United Way’s Cornerstone Society.

Women's Leadership Initiative of the United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley is a coalition of women who strive to lead through philanthropy and advocacy: donating their own funds and working to raise additional funds for projects to benefit women adn children in the Lehigh Valley.


Campaign 2010 Update - Outstanding achievement by Dual Temp. 100% employee participation rate this year! Thank you to CEO David Noel for his leadership and HR Manager Kristy Pollock, this year’s Employee Campaign Coordinator for her efforts organizing their campaign!


Homeless people do not need to stay outside
During the winter the County builds on extensive supports already available throughout the year.

Andesa Services, a new e-way account for 2010 had a 160% increase in donor participation and a 10.4% increase in Employee Giving.

The most colorful place on Earth! Crayolians smash all previous employee giving by 14%. Workplace fundraising continues with two more events scheduled for their 2010 campaign. Talk about colorful!

Buckeye Partners, L.P. increased employee giving 7% over 2009 with 21 more donors in 2010 leading to 27% participation.  Their Employee Campaign Coordinators attended our 2010 orientation. Congratulations to the ECC Team of Jerry Ashcroft & Debbie Delong. Buckeye Partners, L.P. also offers a 100% company match!


More great 2010 Campaign news! PNC Bank had a 28% increase in donor participation and increase in giving of 18.4%.

C & S Wholesale Grocers had their largest United Way Campaign ever with a whopping 389% increase in donations from 2009. C&S had four times the number of donors for their 2010 campaign. The business also offers a generous 100% company match! A special thank you to the campaign team of Dennis Arends and Joanne Baitz.

We would like to extend a big thank you to Trifecta whose United Way Campaign saw an increase in donations of 54% from last year and a 65% increase in donors. A special thank you to CEO, Doug Pelletier and Employee Campaign Coordinator Melissa Bosch for going the extra mile with Trifecta’s campaign fundraisers. Today we would like to thank the staff of Nestle-Purina whose United Way Campaign saw an increase in both dollars raised and donors - 14.4% increase in donations and a 17.8% increase in donors! Special shout-out to Mallory Jensen for all of her hard work and extra effort.
