CARIE Now In The Lehigh Valley

Lehigh Valley Alliance on Aging is excited to announce that Mike Donio has been hired to conduct advocacy and organize public policy efforts for older adults in our area!

The Center for Advocacy for the Rights and Interests of the Elderly (CARIE) is a nationally known, non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for vulnerable older adults. CARIE focuses on to improving the well-being, rights and autonomy of older persons through advocacy, education, and action — through a “case to cause” model of advocacy that serves to promote equal access to justice and addresses problems and issues on both the individual and the systemic levels.   They have been serving the Philadelphia region for over 25 years and have been expanding some services into the entire state of Pennsylvania.

United Way/Lehigh Valley Alliance on Aging is proud to provide some of the financial support necessary to bring their unique and well-respected skills to our area!

Beginning in September, CARIE will be taking over the management of the LVAA Public Policy meetings.  These meetings will provide a timely and consistent way for a large group of older adult stakeholders to discuss and mobilize around the issues of greatest importance to older adults in our community.  If you have any questions or would like to attend the meetings to make your voice heard, please feel free to contact me at corir@unitedwayglv.org or Mike Donio at mdonio@lvbchc.com
