Christmas From Connecticut To Bethlehem

Thanks to a concerned aunt in Watertown, Conn., a local family in Bethlehem, Pa. was able to have a wonderful Christmas.

Sherri Stolfi, a Bentley System’s employee, contacted Human Resources in mid-November with an unusual request. Stolfi’s niece Lindsay, recently took guardianship of her two nephews (ages 5 and 8). Lindsay, who is 23 years old, works part time for the early learning center at the YMCA of Bethlehem (a United Way Partner Agency) and her boyfriend, Preston, is a 21-year-old senior, football player at Lehigh University. According to Sherri, they were having a hard time making ends meet.
Stolfi asked Bentley if there was anything they could do for Lindsay, Preston and the two boys.

The Bentley Human Resources Director reached out to their local United Way, who then contacted United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley (UWGLV).

UWGLV staff put the word out and within the hour, heard from a local couple from Guardian who wanted to adopt a family for the holidays instead of giving gifts to each other. Shortly thereafter, UWGLV also heard from B. Braun who had put together a committee of eight people who planned to adopt the family.

The couple from Guardian and the group from B. Braun showered the family with gifts in mid-December. Thanks to the generosity of our partners at B. Braun and Guardian – as well as to the entire United Way system. It was wonderful to see the family have a wonderful Christmas.
