TeenWorks at GLV United Way

The TeenWorks™ Program began...

The TeenWorks program began in 1999 as a collaborative effort between organized labor in the Lehigh Valley and United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley.
  • TeenWorks™ : funded entirely by labor unions in Lehigh and Northampton Counties in Pennsylvania
  • TeenWorks™ : allocates grants, up to $1000, to teens doing community service projects throughout the  Lehigh Valley
  • TeenWorks™ : partially funded the 'Freedom Memorial Garden' project (video below)

Benefits to teens who are members of TeenWorks™:

  • Experience in leadership, board governance, planning and teamwork
  • A sense of connection, accountability and responsibilty
  • Experience in programmatic and fiscal decision making and proposal writing
  • A capacity to care for others
  • A sense of pride and confidence in discovering unique talents
  • A sense of being needed and valued
  • The power to affect personal change and improve the lives of others
