See the Impact: COVID-19 Community Response Fund
See the Impact: COVID-19 Community Response Fund
Published: June 15, 2020
Thanks to support from generous partners and donors, the Greater Lehigh Valley COVID-19 Community Response Fund has awarded more than $453,000 to 65 organizations serving residents of Lehigh, Northampton and Carbon Counties. The initial phase focused on strengthening safety-net services including food access, housing and income support, and the second phase expanded to include mental and behavioral health services. Thousands of community members have received the support they need in recent months:
Promise Neighborhoods of the Lehigh Valley
has supported more than 200 Allentown families by delivering food, essentials and more than 60,000 diapers to families of infants and small children.

Meals on Wheels of the Greater Lehigh Valley
added up to 1,200 meals per day with expanded services to low-income individuals, seniors and families experiencing homelessness or in temporary housing.

Pinebrook Family Answers
expanded the free Warmline telephone service, which experienced a 40% increase in calls from adults experiencing emotional and mental health concerns.
The Ortiz Ark Foundation
provided meals for more than 750 Allentown families as well as masks, gloves and hand sanitizers to more than 1,000 people.
The Literacy Center
created two new Work From Home courses, and 51 students completed the first session with a second session planned for summer.
What’s next?
Funding for phase 3 will be distributed in late June/early July with a focus on advancing racial justice with a specific emphasis on organizations serving communities of color. The ongoing fourth and final phase of funding will engage community in a co-design process of reimaging the Greater Lehigh Valley nonprofit sector to better reflect a new, post-COVID reality.
