STEM Scholarship for Female High School Students

Published: March 08, 2016
The Scholarship Opportunity
United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley is offering a scholarship opportunity to a young woman who pursues post-secondary study in an area of Science, Technology, Engineering and/or Math or Finance (often referred to as S.T.E.M. education). The funding for this scholarship has been provided by
United Way Tocqueville Society
donor, Fusun Bubernack, in honor of her parents for whom it is named.
The 2016 Hasan Fehmi & Sabahat Erel Legacy S.T.E.M. Scholarship will provide $4,000 and a unique mentoring relationship to the scholarship winner. Qualified applicants include female high school students pursuing a S.T.E.M. major in a higher education school. Current students in college are also eligible for this award, for the 2016-2017 school year.
This scholarship aligns with United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley's goal of providing increased educational opportunities.
The recipient will be a young woman with a superior academic record as well as an established history of volunteerism and community service. The applicant should have a demonstrated financial need and be willing to work with a mentor over the course of the academic year.
