United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley Promotes Jill Pereira to Vice President, Education and Impact
Published: November 13, 2018
Allentown, PA, November 13, 2018
– United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley (UWGLV) has named Jill Pereira as Vice President, Education and Impact; Beth Tomlinson as Senior Director, Education; and Priscilla Rosado as Assistant Director, Food Access and Emergency Services.
“With these appointments, we ensure that our tradition of strong leadership within our Impact team continues. We’ve made significant progress toward our goals in education, food access and healthy aging. Each of these team members has played a critical role in our success,” said David Lewis, President of UWGLV. “2019 officially marks the start of a new century for our organization, and we approach this opportunity in the spirit of innovation that has been a hallmark of our United Way for the past 100 years.”
In addition to these changes which take effect Monday, November 19, UWGLV will add two new positions to the Impact team in early 2019: a
Senior Director, Impact
and an
Assistant Director, Early Childhood and Summer Learning
.
"Your United Way is dedicated to improving lives and community conditions across the Greater Lehigh Valley,” said Pereira. “I look forward to advancing our Impact work, building greater synergy and strength with all of the issues we support through thought partnership, funding and advocacy. No one challenge stands in isolation of another, and I am excited to move into a position that aims to maximize the connections towards better outcomes.”
Since 2009, Pereira has held various leadership roles within UWGLV, most recently Vice President of Education. In her new role, Pereira will oversee the organization’s $13.5 million annual investments in education, health and human services as well as create and execute the strategies needed to advance successful outcomes for children, families and seniors across the region.
Pereira’s professional background includes working in high-need communities in the Lehigh Valley serving diverse populations spanning the fields of mental health, juvenile justice, children and youth, public housing, and public education. As co-founder of the Pennsylvania Community Schools State Coalition, Jill worked to ensure that Pennsylvania's
Every Student Succeeds Act
recognized the Community Schools model as a strategy. Jill has presented at numerous local, state, and national conferences on the Community School archetype and the role United Way can play in large-scale social change efforts. She was nationally recognized with the 2018 Coalition for Community Schools Initiative Leader Award and was named one of the Lehigh Valley Business’
Forty Under 40
in 2015.
Tomlinson has worked with UWGLV since 2012, most recently as Director, Education. She has spent more than 20 years in the nonprofit sector, working to improve the lives of children, teens and families by developing high quality programs and creating systems level changes. In addition to co-leading the United Way Community School Network, Tomlinson’s work to enhance summer-learning opportunities for area students through the Lehigh Valley Summer Learning Coalition has been nationally recognized by the Campaign for Grade-Level Reading, and she has spearheaded the Lehigh Valley Trauma Awareness Collaborative which has introduced trauma-informed practices into area schools. In her new role, Tomlinson will take on increasing leadership roles in United Way’s strategic educational partnerships.
Rosado joined the UWGLV team in 2012 and currently serves as Assistant Director, Food Access. She will now add Emergency Services to her responsibilities, which includes a $600,000 annual investment in disaster relief, crisis programs, housing services and shelters that serve 14,500 people each year. She currently serves on the Whitehall/Coplay Hunger Initiative Board, Easton Hunger Coalition Steering Committee and the Fresh Food Bucks Advisory Committee. A member of the Leadership Lehigh Valley Class of 2018, Priscilla regularly volunteers by serving community meals as a member of United Way’s Emerging Leaders affinity group and was named a 2018 Finest Honoree by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
