Lehigh Valley Century Challenge to Match All New and Increased Gifts to UWGLV
Lehigh Valley Century Challenge to Match All New and Increased Gifts to UWGLV
Published: October 18, 2017
The Lehigh Valley Century Challenge will match all new and increased gifts to United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley during the 2017 campaign year.
Bill Spence, PPL Corporation CEO and 2017 UWGLV Campaign Chair, has pledged to make 2017 -- the organization's centennial campaign -- a transformative one. His Lehigh Valley Century Challenge was motivated by the good work of UWGLV is doing throughout the community and a desire to impace even greater change.
PPL Corporation
,
Air Products
,
Crayola
,
Dual Temp Company
,
BB&T
,
Capital BlueCross
, and a handful of anonymous individuals, have pledged a total of $1 million for the Lehigh Valley Century Challenge.
"The premise of the initiative is simple: if an individual that gave $200 last year increases their donation to $300 this year, the $100 increase will be matched dollar for dollar, above and beyond their employer match," said David Lewis, President of UWGLV. "Individuals will be doubling or even tripling thier impact and leveraging even more money for our community."
Many companies and organizations throughout the Lehigh Valley already offer a generous match to their employees every year. Air Products, one of the companies participating in the Lehigh Valley Century Challenge, has offered a dollar-for-dollar match to its employees since 2015 and any increased donations will be eligible for the additional Challenge match. This year, the local Fortune 500 company has committed to additionally match retiree donations 1:1, up to $50,000 per individual.
"I am thrilled that Air Products has once again exhibited its leadership and commitment to our community," remarked Spence. "The campaign is gaining great momentum and it is exciting to see the enthusiasm from all of our community partners."
Gifts do not need to be raised through workplace campaigns. New or increased individual donations are eligible for the 1:1 Century Challenge match as well. This is an excellent opportunity for individual donors to make an even greater impact on our community.
