You Have the Power to Prevent a Fall

Did you know that 1 in 4 Americans aged 65+ falls every year?

Falls are the leading cause of fatal and non-fatal injuries for older Americans, according to the National Council on Aging. Falls are costly—in dollars and in quality of life. However, falling is not an inevitable part of aging. Through practical lifestyle adjustments, evidence-based programs, and community partnerships, the number of falls among seniors can be reduced substantially.

A coalition of Age-Friendly Lehigh Valley, the Fall Prevention Coalition works with health care specialists including physicians, first responders, hospitals and non-profit organizations to implement fall prevention programs to help reduce this problem.

 

Mission

To reduce falls and fall-related injuries and deaths in older adults through community awareness, education and effective interventions.
 

Vision

A community that empowers seniors and people with disabilities with the knowledge to reduce their risk of falling, thereby enhancing their quality of life and maintaining their independence.
 

Goals

Reduce falls of older adults and those with disabilities, fall-related injuries, and deaths that result from a fall-related injury within our community.
