For over 100 years, United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley has identified the region’s most pressing challenges and mobilized the community to address their root causes—bringing together hundreds of partners – businesses, nonprofits, government leaders, schools and donors.
How does United Way invest?
United Way believes that every person in the Lehigh Valley deserves an opportunity for a good life. That begins with priorities focusing on education, healthy aging and community stability.
For an organization to become United Way qualified they must submit a
Qualification Application
. The process consists of completing an 18-point application, requiring access to information from an organization’s 990, budget, strategic plan, board of directors list, etc. An organization must be in existence for at least three years before becoming a qualified partner agency. Organizations that meet these criteria will be required to complete a Qualification Renewel on a yearly basis.
Why does United Way ask for this?
Organizations need to meet a set of criterion to complete the United Way qualifications process. The criterion is determined through research conducted by United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley staff, a committee of volunteers and community agency executives. They contain the essential legal, governance, financial and quality requirements to ensure a United Way investment would be financially protected from risk and used to the greatest benefit to the community. Most organizations should be able to meet and respond to these criteria without difficulty
When can I submit a Proposal?
Applications are accepted anytime; however, we only renew our investments every three years. Our current 18-month cycle ends December 2022. The next RFP opens in April 2022 with new funding beginning January 2023.
