A Global Day of Giving
On Tuesday, November 29, 2016, United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley is participating in #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving.
We know winter is just around the corner, but we're already looking ahead to summer plans for our kids in the Lehigh Valley. This November, we're devoting our #GivingTuesday challenge to fight the "Summer Slide" - when students lose 2-3 months of academic skills if they aren't connected to quality learning opportunities over the summer months. All funds raised this year will help provide scholarships for low-income children to attend quality summer learning programs.
Three ways to give back:
1.
DONATE
. Make one day of giving last all summer long.

Summer Learning success storY
I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE MY CHILDREN ATTEND THIS SUMMER PROGRAM EVERY YEAR!
As a parent of four children who participated in the ACLA program this summer I could not be happier. My children loved the variety of programs and the opportunity to become leaders themselves. I also had the opportunity to coordinate with several moms to help out in the kitchen which really let them feel closer to their child's success. I would love to have my children attend this summer program every year.

Why summer learning is important
Low-income students not engaged in summer learning fall 2–3 grade levels behind their peers by the end of 5th grade.
Low-income children not reading at grade level by the end of 3rd grade are 13x more likely to drop out of school.
Join the fight against the Summer Slide and help us reach our giving goal of $5,000.
With $5,000 United Way can provide free summer learning scholarships for over 60 Lehigh Valley kids.
Campaign ends November 29, 2016.
