New Members Join United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley's Board of Directors
Published: January 07, 2019
Allentown, PA January 7, 2019 –
United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley’s Board of Directors is proud to announce the appointments of Laurie Hackett, Jim Irwin and Joe Topper to two-year terms, effective immediately.
“The new members will volunteer their leadership and expertise to help United Way create opportunities to improve lives and community conditions throughout Lehigh, Northampton and Carbon counties. Laurie, Jim and Joe each embody the LIVE UNITED spirit, and we look forward to their support as we advance our work throughout the Greater Lehigh Valley,” said Board Chair Dr. Joseph Roy, Superintendent of Bethlehem Area School District.
United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley raises money and invests in programs to achieve three bold goals: increase the number of third-graders reading on grade level, decrease the number of food insecure residents and increase the number of seniors whose basic needs are met at home.
“Over the past four years, we’ve made significant, measurable progress toward each of these goals. Volunteer leaders are a key factor in our success in fundraising and impact, and we’re excited about the energy Laurie, Jim and Joe will bring to our Board,” remarked David Lewis, President, UWGLV.
