United Way Day of Caring Returns 500 Volunteers Strong

WHAT:
United Way's 28th annual Day of Caring, presented by Crayola, unites approximately 500 energetic volunteers to complete community service projects at dozens of nonprofits throughout Lehigh, Northampton and Carbon counties.
WHERE:
Various nonprofit locations in Allentown, Bethlehem and Easton
WHEN:
Thursday, September 30, 2021
8 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Times vary by location)
Media is invited to join us for all or part of the day.
EVENT DETAILS:
Approximately 500 local employees and 50 area nonprofits will LIVE UNITED on Thursday, September 30 as they volunteer their time during United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley’s 28th annual Day of Caring, presented by Crayola. In partnership with the
Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley
, Day of Caring is the community’s largest, single day volunteer effort and the official kick-off of United Way’s 2021 campaign.
Participants from 38 area businesses will complete a total of 55 small, in-person and virtual projects. United Way President David Lewis and 2021 Campaign Chair Laurie Gostley Hackett of Air Products will join volunteers throughout the region as they paint murals at local Community Schools, stock and organize food pantries and beautify outdoor spaces.
Day of Caring’s presenting sponsor is Crayola with additional support from Bronze Sponsors Amazon Fulfillment, Capital Blue Cross and Carbon Chamber & Economic Development; Snack Sponsors Costco and Wegmans Food Markets, and in-kind contributors ASR Media Productions and Uline.
TOUR SCHEDULE:
8 a.m.
Crayola at Paxinosa Elementary School
Location: 1221 Northampton Street, Easton, PA
Project Description: Mural painting, adding motivational quotes to school entrances and walkways, and outdoor classroom clean-up
10 a.m. City Center Allentown at Central Elementary School
Location: 829 West Turner Street, Allentown, PA
Project Description: Reorganization plus indoor and outdoor clean-up
11:15 a.m. Air Products at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School
Location: 404 E North Street, Bethlehem, PA
Project Description: Supply/donation closet organization
1 p.m. PPL at Friends of Johnston, Bethlehem
Location: 1311 Santee Mill Road, Bethlehem, PA
Project Description: Outdoor landscaping, clean up and signage
