What do Tinker Bell, Michaelangelo (the Ninja Turtle variation, not the Sistine Chapel one), a Stormtrooper and Catwoman have in common? The Ninth Annual Iron Pigs Suites-n-Treats, of course! On Thursday, October 27th, 2016, United Way Emerging Leaders participated in the annual event, which has become a tradition for us. Hundreds of special needs and underprivileged children associated with non-profit organizations made their way through the Coca Cola Stadium, decorated and organized by various non-profit entities. Our theme this year: Heroes vs. Villains. The evening's highlights for me, were when kids would walk in, and run over to their favorite character for a photo-opp! Extra credit to Ernie Stiegler, who was one of the most popular characters as Batman! Sarah Lewis, Co-Chair of our Steering Committee says: "This is one of my favorite volunteer events of the year, because we get to see first hand the impact of what we do through the smiles and endless supply of hugs from excited children and their families. This serves as a precious reminder for all of the Emerging Leaders of why we do what we do."
