Programs and Services
150 students are involved in school activities including after-school programs, sports and academic clubs.
Broughal Middle School has 300 volunteers engaged in out-of-school time programs, tutoring and events, providing 3,500 hours of service.
Backpack Pals Program
The BackPack Pals Program is a food distribution initiative that provides students who are identified as food-insecure with kid-friendly meals to sustain their family over long holiday weekends. Lehigh University and Sodexo are proud sponsors of the program.
BASD After-school Programs
Programs for Broughal middle school students interested in various extracurriculars.
Broughal Donation Room
Houses additional donations of: hygiene products, infant supplies, school supplies, and more.
Broughal Music Department
Band, orchestra, chorus, and drama groups
Clinical Social Worker
Support service for Broughal students provided in partnership with Pinebrook Family Answers.
Clothing Closet
Providing clothing of all types to Broughal students and their families. The closet is open by appointment.
Community Voices Clinic
In partnership with Lehigh University, Broughal offers the Community Voices Clinic which provides free therapy services for children, adults and families residing in South Bethlehem who would otherwise be unable to access services due to being uninsured, underinsured or under financial strain.
Emergency Food Pantry
Serving Broughal families experiencing food insecurity.
PIAA Sports Teams
Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association sports for Broughal Middle students.
School Highlights
Meet Community School Coordinator Alicia Creazzo
Mrs. Creazzo is the Community School Coordinator at Broughal Middle School, located in the SouthSide of Bethlehem. She has been employed through Lehigh University since Broughal was first established as a community school in 2010.
Mrs. Creazzo is a Broughal Rocket through and through. She began her career at Broughal in 2008 as the Afterschool Program Coordinator for the Bethlehem Area School District, through the 21st Century Learning Center grant. In her current role as a Community School Coordinator, Mrs. Creazzo works tirelessly to empower students and families and identify barriers to their success. A fierce advocate for her students and families, she has used her longevity at Broughal to maintain and strengthen partnerships in support of urban education and community development.
